Glen Beck on Itamar Massacre: Very important to watch

As we discussed today in class, the words used in political stories are always key. I think the word Beck uses to describe the murder, "butcher", is the most effective one that I have seen so far.

  1. I think Glen Beck is right and this terror attack was awful, and he is right when he says that its terrible that its gotten little or no news coverage, but I also think its important to notice that Beck's usage of these harsh words like "butcher" are not only because he feels strongly, which unless he's a very good actor he seemingly did, but he was trying to evoke emotion. Using these words, and constant mention of the ages of the kids, are not only there for emphasis. They are there to play on our emotions. It is important to notice, while he is trying to being focus to the story, he is also trying to bring support to himself. And by the number of times I've seen this video posted by friends of mine, it may be working.

  2. Glen Beck does an excellent job in depicting the story of the Fogel family. Everything he does in the clip, including the way he speaks to how he is positioned in the room, makes the viewers feel sympathetic towards the family involved and the rest of Israel who must deal with this horrific terrorist attack.

  4. I also think Glenn Beck did a great job here, and I am glad someone spoke about the massacre in a sensible way. However, it is surprising that he was one of the only news anchors to speak about the tragedy, and as much as I appreciate this video, I feel angry that were not more of them, from other anchors, on other channels. It has been said that the reason for the poor coverage of the massacre of the Fogel family is the Japanese earthquake; I think this is an excuse, especially in light of the little amount of information that is provided with regards to the situation in Japan.

  5. By describing the terrorist as "monsters and explaining detail by detail of the stabbings (admitting he cannot show the photos of the incident on television), indicates the severity of the situation. It is nice to hear that someone who influences so many, is coming to tell the world of the tragedy that occurred in Itamar.
